Walking for Peace

Every step we take we have a purpose to where we are going. Every person walks down a different path and somehow in the end, we all realize that there is one thing we need. What we need is peace.

Every year, HWPL hosts a peace walk on May 25 and this is an event I have taken part in for 4 years now. Every year, I come to realize that peace is something we need and every year my heart for peace grows that much more. I don't know about everyone else, but the more I think about peace, the more my heart yearns for it. Why is that? Well, every year there are more events of war, death, and injustice all over the world. When we see this, we may just think about it or just post something on the internet with "Pray for (insert unfortunate event here)." However, rarely have I seen someone actually say, "This is ridiculous! I can't believe I am just standing here. There must at least be a group of people who really want to stop all this.

"Everyday I wake up asking myself, "was a child warm like I was today?" or "did others wake up to a sound of an alarm or did they wake up to the sounds of bombs?"

Take a step back and think about it? Think in the perspective of those who are dying because of one word: War. It is so difficult for us to think about these things because we don't go through it right? This is why we can at least do something. If we can all make it aware that there are groups out there such as HWPL who are fighting for peace, then we can all gather together not for the sake of a group, but for the sake of peace. Peace isn't just for you or me, but it is for everything that lives and breathes on this earth.

There is a peace walk on the 25th that many countries are taking part it. I challenge you to please get up and walk for peace. If you cannot, please promote peace and make it known that you are doing something. Thank you for fighting for peace and hopefully I can one day walk next to you for peace. Walk today, run tomorrow for peace.

The Hare and Tortoise of Peace

Have you ever heard about the story of the hare and the tortoise? It is a story about two animals and the beginning and end of their journeys.

The story begins with the speedy hare in a race with a slow tortoise. Naturally, an individual would think that the speedy hare would win and from the beginning of the story it seems like so. The hare speeds to the end of the finish line only to see a tree with shade and decides that he can rest. What made him rest? He saw that the tortoise was slow and had a long way to go. Therefore the hare slept and slept and slept. Suddenly the hare woke up to a loud and thunderous cheer. He thought the cheer was for him and he quickly zipped through the finish line, but realized that the crowd was around the tortoise. He looked at his watch and realized he slept for hours and realized that was enough time for the slow and steady tortoise to win the race.

What can we learn from this story in regards to peace? There are two types of people in this world. Whether in regards to work, school, or peace, there is always a hare and there is always a tortoise. The hare like person is skilled and is capable to achieve great things, but looks at others who are behind him and makes himself above others. The hare like person ends up resting and thinks they have enough time. However, the tortoise like person does not look at others when running the race. The tortoise just looks at the finish line despite his weakness. With that effort, he looks to win the race slow and steady. Soon enough, the hare like person is the one who falls behind and the tortoise is the winner.

When we are the people who can achieve peace, who will you be? Will you be like the hare who already feels like peace is complete? Or will you be like the tortoise who sees that peace as possible and runs till the finish line? Let us become peace runners like the tortoise! Although we may not be the greatest of people, let us be people who have heart. Peace runner like you and me can most definitely make peace a reality even tomorrow!

HWPL Knows What Peace is About

Peace posters that are made beautifully are held for the world to
see that HWPL is serious when it comes to achieving world peace.
Streets bustle, cars honk, bombs explode, babies are born, lights turn yellow, kids play outside, people sip on coffee on a cold day: these are things that happen everyday and everyday just seems like a simple day. However, little may people know that the whole world is turning to an organization called HWPL (Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light). The HWPL Chairman, Mr. Man Hee Lee, has sparked a new generation of peace movements that are taking over to bring about changes in thoughts that peace is actually possible. Recently in the month of September, the 1st Annual Commemoration of HWPL WARP Summit was launched to show that HWPL is not going to stop in its tracks until peace is achieved. While streets bustle in New York, in the Philippines the streets are bustling with youth who are marching for peace. While cars are honking in Los Angeles traffic, cars are honking in India in support for peace marchers who have posters showing that peace is possible. Bomb explode in the middle east, while fireworks are popping in South Korea in celebration of peace to come. Babies are born in a busy hospital, while others are hoping the next generation become the voice for peace. Lights turn yellow in a busy street, while yellow flowers representing peace are being planted and made into flower necklaces for those who are seeking to achieve peace. Kids are playing outside with hopes that they could be playing all day. All over the world people sip on their coffees to stay awake, while others sip on their coffee to stay awake to watch the live streams of the peace conference in South Korea.

When it comes to peace, we must remember that it's all about perspective. What kind of perspective? A perspective that peace is possible. Peace is possible when we all have our minds on the same hope for peace. HWPL all have their hopes for peace, are you ready to join and become a peace activist? More than us needing the world, the world needs us, and HWPL surely can help with that with the amount of work they are doing. Peace on!
